This well established firm has been servicing its SME and rural clients, second tier lenders and HNW individuals for around thirty years. Clients are generally between 45 and 75 years of age and have been serviced by the firm for between 2 and 25 years, providing repeat legal instructions from time to time. The firm seeks to generate growth within its current service offerings with referrals originating from current and past clients, Perth based and rural accounting firms, financial planners, town planners, farm consultants and agronomists, valuers, property developers and investors.
The firm’s core service areas include finance, which contributes 31.1% of revenue and involves the preparation of lending and security documents. Commercial litigation including insolvency is the next most significant service area with 16.5% of fees and involves the provision of dispute resolution and litigation services to clients in various SME environments. Wills, estate planning and probate services contribute 12.2% of fees and involves the preparation of succession and estate planning documentation, some of which is for rural clients referred by rural based advisers and current clients. The balance of revenue is derived from business growth and protection services at 11%, property and town planning at 11%, and lastly rural assets protection and land compensation services, each contributing 9.1% of fees.
During the 2024 financial year, 16% of revenue originated from annual fees greater than $100K, almost 18% of income was contributed by clients with annual fees between $50K & $100K, 21% of fees came from clients with $20K – $50K annual fees, and clients with annual fees of $10K – $20K added 25% of firm turnover. Overall, the top 20 client groups contributed some 61% of annual revenue.
The firm’s sole practitioner is supported by two professional personnel, two paralegal staff, and 1.5 FTE support personnel.
The firm’s premises is 212 m2 with the current lease term expiring in September 2025; thereafter further options beyond that are available where so desired. That said, the relocation of the office is a possibility pending the eventual proximity to its current location.
The practitioner has contributed many years to the profession; thus it is now time for them to step back from the responsibility of managing a practice. However, they remain interested in an ongoing involvement of initially three days per week with the desire to phase out over a couple of years.
